lolzerphon Posted May 9, 2007 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I am a current student, working to get a small tshirt business that I'm starting up online. However, I keep having .myd errors, as well as I am not sure how to tackle the layout. I definitely don't want the standard oscommerce layout, I want it to look professional, and like it took a lot of time, but it doesn't have to be the best by any means. For instance, I am definitely considering buying a template, so that may be what I do, but I do not know how to tell a good layout, as well as how I would implement it. I do not want to buy a layout for around $150 and have it be a waste. Also, I keep getting .myd errors which I know is my database, but I do not know the cause. I am almost sure it is nothing I am doing, becase I leave whatever I am working on for the site fine, and the next day things aren't working. Is it the hosting provider? I am using mySQL and phpmyadmin, could it be on of those things? I currently have hosting from www.hens-teeth.net for this month, and the next two. However, if I need to find a new provider, I will try to cancel and get something that works better with oscommerce, especially if they are the stem of my database problems. I do not want to have to fix the database, have the site work for a day, then have the database corrupt again the next day (i get a lot of missing ___.myd errors) In addition, when the site was up for a day or two (not for sales, but for my testing), a box regarding a ssl certificate conflict appeared. On the control panel from the provider, it appears that I have a shared ssl certificate, and would prefer to use that, but if I have to I wouldn't be opposed to buying a certificate from a site offering them. (Wondering the best site for that too) Lastly, I want to know how to best secure my site, for orders, as well as protecting my admin. I know this is definitely a lot, and I don't expect anyone to come answer everything, but I would appreciate if some people could just answer like one question if they know, or if someone is great with oscommerce, and would be willing to help me a lot, I would be opening to paying them if they can get me through lots of the stages I am having trouble with. I am a student with a lot of stuff going on, so I would prefer to have someone help my directly, but I could sacrifice some real late nights if need be. The problem is, I am expected to already have this up, (as I did for a short period), so I need to get the site up ASAP, preferably within the next 1-3 days. Most people here are willing to help and a few are out to make a few bucks. Update a known good copy often of both your web folder and the DB. Best SSL for the buck is Geotrust. My biggest issue right now is the database problems, I have seen it suggested that this is the provider, but I want to know if theres anthing I can do right now to fix it without starting a new databse everyday. Originally I had everything working for about a week, and then a had some sessions.myd, as well as several other .myd errors in the admin and customer areas. I ried to use the repair in phpmyadmin, but it wasnt working as the files were in fac missing. So I had to reintall oscommerce on a different database, only to have similar problems a day later.
