how to secure download directory

Hallo,

 

I was looking for a solution but I couldn't find any yet.

 

I sell downloadable products and I want to secure the download directory so that nobody can type its addresse in browser and get access to downoads

 

how can we set up a secure setup where nobody can access internal files ?

 

should we set a password to this directory or can we do this with chmod?

It's already secured in a stock shop. There should be a .htaccess file in the downloads directory to do that. If it isn't in yours, just download the oscommerce package and copy that file.

I had already .htaccess file but it didn't work in my shop. Now I have found the solution.

 

I should set the AllowOverride parameter to "all" in httpd.conf file and now it works :)

In cpanel set you dir.If in that dir do not have "html,htm,php," the when trying to access trough browser get 403 error
