installation problem

Hello everyone!

 

I am new to web designing and I am trying to develop a site using oscommerce but when I install it an error comes up. It says:

 

FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!

 

What can I do to resolve this problem? I already edited the php.ini file to enable register_globals but it won't work. I need help please...

Basically there are 4 ways to get around this problem:

 

1. other hosting provider

2. htaccess solution

3. php.ini solution

4. globals contribution

Thanks for the help but I still can't work around the problem. Here are some specifics:

 

1. Apache server 2.2.4

2. PHP 5.2.1

3. Windows xp home edition

 

I am working on a local server installed in my hard disk.

Oscommerce has some issues with php5, with a couple of hacks they can be solved but is you use it for testing it is easier to downgrade your php version to 4.

Thanks buddy for the help. I was able to install OSCommerce just fine. I am using this for testing purposes and I intend to go online with this software. i really appreciate your help. Good luck. -Jess

After I was doing all this steps I get this message when I try to make install:

 

500 Internal Server Error

 

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

 

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

 

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

 

 

Please can you help me or somebody else.
