Guest
Hi I'm hoping I may be able to receive help to solve an urgent issue that through my inexperience I probably caused myself - or would it be the fault of either the hosting company or website builder? My website has the "downloader" virus and it infects anyone that logs onto it, not exactly great for sales.... Can I remove it myself and how?? How can I prevent getting any other viruses? thank you
Rachael w.
Hosting company, whomever is in charge of the server. Unless someone was able to get in and modify your code, then I'd contact your builder.

Thank you for your response, I have sent a complaint to the hosting company and am waiting for a reply - should they be able to remove the virus from my website? Do I need an SSL certificate to prevent future viruses?
shutterbug
Thank you for your response, I have sent a complaint to the hosting company and am waiting for a reply - should they be able to remove the virus from my website? Do I need an SSL certificate to prevent future viruses? we had this too. I just fixed it today. We had to go into the source code and check it out. Was it trying to download at checkout as well? Check the source on that page when the virus comes up and look at the first few lines. Mine had an embedded iframe code that was targeting my customers from another site. erased it and now its fine
