Problem with uploading images

[OverThere]

I'm trying to add products and categories with images. However, more than half the time it gets stuck for 5 minutes and ends up loading a blank page. Without images everything is fine. My images directory is writable.

 

Also, my other question is about the how admin handles categories and products. The default OSC method of clicking twice to go into a category is a little inconvenient in my tastes. Are there any modifications that allows things to be listed out in a tree structure or something similar?
