Does anybody know a contribution that allows you to see similar products for the product selected by a customer? Similar by price, by specification, etc...

There's a contribution in progress, that allow you to cross-sell products.

But as the name says, I don't think this is what I want. The cross-selling contribution will specify to your customers another products necesary for the purchased products. For example if you want to buy a ... i don't know... a digital camera, the cross-selling products will mention that you should buy some cables too (usb, serials, etc.). Something like that... Of course, that's a very usefull contribution too.

But what I need is something else. For example, if you want to buy a digital camera with blitz, 1024x768 resolution, x frames/sec, etc... on this camera's description page I want to be displayed some similar cameras, with the same specification. I think I have to insert a new line in the database, in the product table, called similar products. And in admin section, when you insert a new product, you will have to chose in a box which similar product you want to associate with the new one. It's not so hard to implement something like that though...

You could use the cross-post as your foundation for this and just modify it so that if you want to later use the cross-post add-on for something else you can have both :D
