mysterymouse
I have had a successful oscommerce store up and running for about 5 months and have not had a single hitch. Today, in the english.php file I tried to change the word "newletter" (where the customer can tick yes) to "would you like to be informed of upcoming specials?". The file said it was saved but it actually cleared all info so now it is an empty file. I have the php code so tried to paste it back in - it says it is successfully saved - but saves it as an empty file. I am attempting this through the Control Panel so I then tried the same thing in the oscommerce backend but it says the file permissions are not set high enough to edit. I change the file permissions - it lets me paste in the code, and then clears it again. Why on earth is this happening???? Desparate help!!! allaboutwicker
Hi, I am not a programmer, but have had my oscommerce site for serveral months now. I had found that when I used cpanel to change files it sometimes did not work just right . I would highly recommend using a program like "Smart FTP" to change files on your website instead. You can download it from the web for free as I had done. The files have not gotten messed up since I have used it. Of course always do back ups of any files you want to change before you do so, just in case. This SmartFTP program is great for that as well. Best Wishes on your website! Hope this helped, Leslie I have had a successful oscommerce store up and running for about 5 months and have not had a single hitch.
