Multiple shops on one server, with one SSL cert

We are running four shops on one server, each with their own url, database and files. All the credit card info is handled by Paypal so we haven't put SSL in because our shop isn't using any vulnerable customer data. But I would like to get SSL working anyway to give customers the comfort of a "lock" icon, and to make it possible in the future to handle more sensitive data.

 

Is it possible? Everything I've heard says you can have only one SSL cert per server, and that cert applies to only one folder. Would I have to redirect all the pages handling sensitive data to the SSL folder? Would that be handled automatically just by configuring the https path in configure.php?
