Commander!! Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Has anyone had any good results from Google useing oscommerce i.e.. is google linking directly to your products if not what pages are listed with google how are you standig up to the competition from non oscommerce shops. Lets not talk about the mods that are allready being implemented to get better listings lets talk about the results you are getting from useing these mods
Ian-San Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 No, I have 30,000 listings on Google that are rubbish and 2 that are not (but they came from another link). I think it is too early to say if we can get listed okay as we only introduced the mods mentioned elsewhere a couple of weeks ago. So, I am hoping to get rid of 29,999 listing in the next few weeks and get 1 that works! However, I have no proble with other search engines - only Google. Ian-san Flawlessnet
Commander!! Posted October 28, 2002 Author Posted October 28, 2002 That is Bad ok it got your site but what i am seeing there which is most important it is only showing links there is no content no keywords to find nothing And lets all agree on this the most important is to get listed for the products not for a link i could only get nowsayit in google by actualy searching for nowsayit
wizardsandwars Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 I've heard several people say that they have gotten products listed on google before. Currently, I have been unable to do so, but after only 3 months online. I think that it may take awhile longer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
Guest Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Well i done a check on DV-Depot which is a major osc site to see how there google hits were before i started to set my catalog up and seen that DV-DEPOT were getting more hits for the reviews and not many for the products if you look at the DV DEPOT site you can see they are randomly generateing the reviews on the default page so i decided to generate the products randomly on my first page. If doing this gets the same results as DV DEPOT got for the reviews is something i dont know at this time because Google doesnt even know that my site exists i hope google will hit me soon so i can see if i am getting indexd for product names.
Ian-San Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Commander!! Yes it is disapointing (from an academic point of view) but currently not too critical for me as we are listed on the Japanese search engines which is the main purpose of the site. Still, I am hoping November might get us a proper listing on Google and I do not have to use up 1GB of bandwidth as Google crawls around the site! Ian-san Flawlessnet
