Godaddy Hosting ???

I have been reading about Godaddy hosting, so far I have problems with another hosting company as well x-cart now I am back at oscommerce and have gone back to my comfort zone. However I have been reading that a ton of people are complaining about issues with Godaddy..

Am I going to encounter issues?

So far i have installed the latest version and things seem to be up and running great.

I have not installed the Google Checkout Mod nor the Paypal Pro Mod

I am wondering if this will have any issues.

I have been able to pw protect my admin with the .htaccess file

Does anyone have any experience with Godaddy?

Godaddy works ok although sometimes setting things up takes up to 24 hrs for changes to take place. (SSL, new database, etc).

GoDaddy and osc works great until you get to the payment modules. I use PayPal only on one of my shops that I have hosted there so that isn't an issue. My other shops are not hosted at GoDaddy.

One thing about GoDaddy is there up time in well above 99%. That site was down 1 x in 5 years and only for about an hour.

They don't have the register_globals issues most hosted sites have.

I use godaddy for one of my websites and its been running fine now, I did have some issue in the beginning with connecting to the database and this issue lasted for over a week with them, when I complained about refunds, the problem got solved quick but customer service letter back to me did give overtones of cockyness in the email stating there will be no reimburstment for anytime my website was down. Their attitude was like this happens and your out of luck, I then moved one of my websites. If you check here I did post this issue.

I have two sites I maintain- one is on GoDaddy and it works fine, no problems to speak of. However, my other site is on Total Choice Hosting, and I prefer them by far due to their great customer service & forums, and working with their Cpanel and any related admin functions are much easier and more logically layed out than GoDaddy. The monthly prices are the same.

For those of you who have succesfully installed OS Commerce on Godaddy would you please tell me what you did? I tried setting up a MySQL database version 5 and went through the whole process. I get an error message though at the end of the OS Commerce installation. I called Go Daddy and they didn't have a clue how to help me. They had never even heard of OS Commerce. I think they told me the easy answer that Go Daddy just didn't support OS Commerce. Any help would be appreciated.

First make sure your are on their linux hosting plan. If not switch it under upgrad downgrade host plans.

Then make sure your set up your database using the database button in your control panel.

then open your included documentation.pdf. and follow the step by step install via ftp.

Remember your database user name and your database name are the same. You will need to locate the path to your database and that is where you added a database, the path is not localhost or your web address.

Well, it has nothing to do with your hosting. You need to lock up your site as you have left the door open and someone has added categories that have added links to the categories nav. Go to admin and delete those categories and then lock up.

It is your resposnability to secrure your site!

You can not blame your hosting for something that anyone one can do with you leaving your admin wide open. You need to address that issue first.

You will need to delete this site and set it up on a different database as your database info is there for all to see. Any one could have ran a sql qurey with the info you have left for them. Then find the admin log in log out contrib and install a password.

Then show me where Godaddy hosting has suffered the same porno linking. My site there for the past 4 years has never had security issues or hacking.
