Tripwire
After having taken over the maintenance of a oscommerce site I have run into a problem with the database in terms of security. The guy that installed mysql on the dedicated server has left the company without leaving any passwords for mysql, except the ones which are coded into application_top.php . I have had to reset all the website passwords, including the server admin password but cannot login to mysql to change the database password. This leaves the database wide open to the guy that left, who it would seem has left on bad terms. The server is a RAQ4. Is there a way to change the password associated with the database the sites using? I do not understand the workings of mysql enough to try and use telnet which I'm told could be a way of doing it. I have tryed installing Mysql Studio from www.mysqlstudio.com and using the manage users option but it would not allow me to connect with the server admin login details. Is the mysql root password set independently of the cobalt server? Please excuse my ignorance
