Explorer doesn't work properly, Firefox does?

This issue has been bugging me for weeks. In IE my shopping cart empties when an individual product is selected, and the currency converts back to the default. If, however, you select a product category, it will keep these changes, suggesting to me that it is a SID problem. I have looked all over and done all sorts of compares to no avail. It works perfectly on my localhost, but the problems springs up on a 'live' site.

I have recently discovered, however, that it works perfectly in Firefox ie. keeps the currency and cart contents no matter what is selected.

 

If anyone can PLEASE PLEASE help, point me in the right direction or offer support I would be most grateful.
