Need help with my Index.php - Welcome Page

Maybe somebody could help me. I'm new to .php files and I can't figure out how to get the text to not jump to the right hand side of the screen. See link:

I would like it to have a bullet that I have defined in "default" as "gif.1" hanging out... and then the text in. Like this:

• Welcome<p>
  Blah blay blah blah....
  

Also are there any good books out there to learn .php that is for the simple minded folks. I understand HTML... but am in no way a coding wizard.

 

Thanks a bunch, I'd love to get this store up and running soon... so I can continue on making the mini's.
