A Few Minor Tweaks

Hi everyone... first a thank you in advance for any advice. Also a huge thank you to all who have helped many of us learn OS. I have finished w/ my install and I have a few minor teaks that need adjusting. BTW I am using v. 1.61.. old version I know but OS was already installed with my provider and I didn't realize it was an older version. I dread installing a newer version due to all the cosmetic changes I've already made to the current installed version but I like the Admin layout of the newer version that I see when I'm at the OS knowledge base web pages. Anyone know what version that is and is it possible to upgrade this cart without having to start all over?

 

Ok here are my minor teaks:

 

First Tweak:

Sizes: When I add these attributes they are not listing as s,m,l,xl,2xl they are listing as xl,2xl,s,m,l. In my catalog>Products Attributes they are listed in the sequence I want but when I add them to an item in the sequence I want they still appear with the listing I explained. Any idea how I get the sizes to list as s,m,l,xl,2xl ?

 

Second Tweak:

When I add a new item I also add it to "Top" thinking I am adding it to the "new products for the month" box but I noticed the items in that box is listing the last product listed. Is there a way to manipulate that box to show the items I want listed? Also if the items I'm listing in "top" are not showing up in that box where are they showing up?

 

Third Tweak:

I'm a bit confused with the shipping zones etc. I am trying to use the USPS method of shipping but receive an error during checkout for that shipping method. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I do have an account with USPS. Any suggestions?

For now I am using a Table Rate, I need to be able to implement shipping charges for International orders. How do I do that?

 

I believe that's it for now. There always seems to be "something" that needs to be tweaked but I'm having a blast learning to manipulate this cart to my specifications. It would be helpful if I knew php but I don't so this is truly a learning curve for me.

 

The only thing that needs to be added to OS is real time inventory for each products individual size. I have one client who has to have it and I am not sure how I am going to accomodant that need. Any ideas?

First Tweak:

Instead of adding the sizes as attributes try the Master & Slave contrib. It might help.

 

Second Tweak:

When you add products to 'Top' you're adding them to your public_html file. You need to add them to the category you want them to appear in.

 

Third Tweak:

I'm clueless about shipping...... sorry!

 

Real time inventory for each products individual size will work with the above master & slave contribution (I think?)
