Limit sale of products to specific shipping/billing zones only

I have searched the forum but I cannot find a contribution or any detail on anyone else having done this.

 

What I am trying to do is make a product only available for sale to customers from certain countries.

 

For example I have a downloadable product, that can only be sold internationally.

 

Therefore I need to be able to set this product to only be sold to customers whose billing address (because the product is downloadable) is international.

 

In the same sense, I have a product which I only want available locally so in this instance I would want to set the product for sale only if the customers shipping address is local.

 

To achieve this I would want to warn and remove from the shopping cart unavailable products at checkout time. and if the user was logged in, the best option would be not to show these products as available, and/or warn them if they tried to add them to the shopping cart.

 

Has anyone done something like this? Does anyone know a contribution that does this? I have installed Abstract Zones, but it does do what I have described above, and whilst I believe it could be modified to do it, I want to see if someone else has done this before i try to edit it myself.

I have found the contribution Country_based_shipping and will give this a try

I too am looking for something similair. Did the Country_based_shipping contribution work for you?
