large box on index page

Hi there, very sorry if this is something which has been covered before but I couldn't find anything...

 

So I'm new to all this, but so far so good, have installed and made a lot of changes and all going well...untill now.

 

I can't figure out how to create these three boxes, like the 'new products for [month]' box but with different titles and different functions.

 

What I wanted exactly is to have a box called ''specials'', a box called ''seasonal products'', and a box called ''new products'' one after the other on that first page.

 

They would display products entered into corresponding catagories in admin.

 

I guess the other aspect of this is removing the one that is already there, I dont want this 'new products' box to function the way it does at the moment, month to month.

so do i take it there isn't really a simple solution to this, perhaps i'll just re organise around it...
