SSL installation after osC install

Hi guys, like a lot of others in this forum, I'm a newbie and as such am at times a bit reluctant trying new ideas.

 

I have installed osC a couple of weeks ago and added some contributions as well as several products. Now realizing that I will need an SSL certificate, I was wondering if this would work.

During the initial install, I did not remove the install file just renamed it.

What I am hoping to do, is to rename it back as 'install' then go through the installation procedure again this time enabling SLL

My fear is that this might reverse the modifications I have made to the catalog and possibly to the product entries.

 

Has anyone else tried this?

If so how did it turn out?
