CHOOSING BETWEEN GATEWAY AND MERCHANT ACCOUNTS

Dear Moderator,

I think that users like myself would benefit greatly if you included an extra topic in your main forum

page to disscuss the how to decide on merchant or gateway accounts. I think since many people

get to this point and try hard to find only bits and pieces of info about how to make a wise decission,

it would be very helpful.

Well, although I would love to see something in the forum deal directly with small business

solutions for oscommerce I have read other post and have learned that your position on

the subject is that it would attract spammers. Well I agree I went to WebHostingTalk

forums and I want to get information on the subject and seem to be waddling through

advertisements. I would prefer a forum here on the subject but can understand your

concerns.

There is no real advise to give on merchant accounts. There are as many merchant account providers and resellers as used car lots and most of them treat you the same way as used car salesmen do.

 

As for the gateway, basically every gateway will do. All can be integrated but only the well known ones have existing payment modules for OSCommerce.

 

All merchant account providers and gateways work the same, the only question is how much you pay for their services.
