quick naming question

Hi,

 

My site was originally designed with 3 top categories, girls, hoodies and mens. Each of those had categories of the type of shirt e.g. funny etc within them.

 

I’m getting rid of the three top categories and leaving just the subcategories of t-shirts. My concern is that my pages have been indexed well in search engines and I fear that moving my categories around will change the name of the link to that category.

 

At the minute my site category pages are

www.mysite.com/index.php?cName=mens-funny

 

I’m worried if I remove the mens (top category) the link will change to

 

www.mysite.com/index.php?cName=funny

 

Anyone know anything about this and how I keep my category page links the same?
