OsCommerce / Documentation Downloads- In Sinc?

Attempting to open a Os Commerce site, i find much difficult. Does the documentation download interact functionally with the installation download? they seem almost unrelated.

 

1. I have an existing product database in txt form can I use it and if so where.

2. When OSCommerce refers to database, what do they mean?

2. MOST IMPORTANT, where do i download the SERVER, the PSP files, and Oscommerce files? I mean in what file at what level?

 

5 days and Ive made no headway? I've plenty of hmtl and js experience but am missing the boat here. If someone could help me on these basics, I'm trusting I can manage the rest more easily.
