Guest Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi Janz et all, The order is to be forwarded to a different shipping address. If one clicks on the edit they are taken to a new (similar) screen but are unable to change the address. Have I missed an option that is available to the customer? Regards, Peter Quote
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Hi Janz et all, I have now tracked down that the address book will only allow one address. Consequently, the Checkout Shipping Screen is misleading when it has a Change Address Button, with an arrow pointing to Shipping Address. Similarly, the Checkout Confirmation page is misleading when it shows Edit links alongside Delivery Address and Billing Address. Are there fixes for this other than modifying the two screens referred to above ? Regards, Peter Quote
Jan Zonjee Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Are there fixes for this other than modifying the two screens referred to above? Either install SPPC correctly or resolve the conflict with another contribution you might have added (PWA perhaps?). Works fine with me (just tried it again). Quote
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Hi Janz, Thankyou for your reply. I have re-installed SPPC and done the SPPC_bug_fix_for_v.4.1.5_(build 051113) Checking step by step we come to "This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order." If I manually go to the account details address-book.php Address Book Entries after the single address details the following message appears "NOTE: A maximum of 1 address book entries allowed." Why then is there not a shipping_address.php called up instead of the current checkout_shipping_address.php (where no editing is allowed). Alternatively, should it go to address_book.php WHERE THERE IS NO provision for shipping address. Often one has to receive orders from a shop where goods have to be despatched to a different address. The current system leads to confusion in their minds - then they back out because they are suspicious of the system "<?php /* $Id: checkout_shipping.php,v 1.3 2003/02/06 17:38:16 thomasamoulton Exp $ osCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions http://www.oscommerce.com Copyright © 2002 osCommerce Released under the GNU General Public License */ define('NAVBAR_TITLE_1', 'Checkout'); define('NAVBAR_TITLE_2', 'Shipping Method'); define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Delivery Information'); define('TABLE_HEADING_SHIPPING_ADDRESS', 'Shipping Address'); define('TEXT_CHOOSE_SHIPPING_DESTINATION', 'Please choose from your address book where you would like the items to be delivered to.'); define('TITLE_SHIPPING_ADDRESS', 'Shipping Address:'); define('TABLE_HEADING_SHIPPING_METHOD', 'Shipping Method'); define('TEXT_CHOOSE_SHIPPING_METHOD', 'Please select the preferred shipping method to use on this order.'); define('TITLE_PLEASE_SELECT', 'Please Select'); define('TEXT_ENTER_SHIPPING_INFORMATION', 'This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order.'); define('TABLE_HEADING_COMMENTS', 'Add Comments About Your Order'); define('TITLE_CONTINUE_CHECKOUT_PROCEDURE', 'Continue Checkout Procedure'); define('TEXT_CONTINUE_CHECKOUT_PROCEDURE', 'to select the preferred payment method.'); ?>" Regards, Peter Quote
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Hi Janz et all, I have now installed Easy Address Change During Checkout as it does nor clash with SPPC. This enables the purchaser to change the address during the Checkout process. The screens now are all very professional, and should not cause purchasers any confusion. I have also looked at two other contributions that store the secondary address (after modifying the database) but they both also modify the large /catalog/admin/includes/functions/general.php file. Mike has been contacted now to see whether he could make further suggestions. Regards, Peter :D Quote

Works fine with me (just tried it again). Hi Janz, My appologies - I have finally discovered what I did wrong (after having mutilated the site with unneeded patches). I had set it incorrectly in the configuration panel - thus limiting the alternative addresses to one. Airing my dirty linen in the hopes that some one else does not make the same silly mistake.
