Lowey81 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Our business has been operating online for a while now, selling our products at Retail prices primarily to local customers. However, we have launched the business to appeal more to a wider market via SEO, advertising etc. Our visitor stats have shot up over the last few months as online advertising and higher search engine placements take place. The problem is that our conversion rate has decreased dramatically. Obviously, aiming at a local market meant a higher conversion ratio, but we now attract online customers through particular product keywords. I thought this would still ensure we receive relevant 'hits' rathet than people just browsing. i.e. rather than targeting people who search for 'gadgets' (which can be anything from toys to electronics) we aim to attract people searching for particular products such as 'shocking autopsy'. Although we receive many visits for the various product pages the conversion rate is poor and need some help addressing this before we spend more money promoting the site online. As far as I can tell, the order process is pretty straightforward (with the option of ordering without an account), our prices are competitive and the postage fees are low. However, I may be missing something - could you take a look at our site UK Gadget Store and post feedback please. Our visitors are targeted visitors so I would be expecting a higher than average conversion ratio. Maybe we should start aiming for the mass market but this would probably lower the conversion ratio further, attracting customers looking for products which we don't stock. Any thoughts/advice welcome . . . . .
