Error: Catalog images directory does not exist:

OS Commerce has been running fine for quite a while until just recently, I am having an issue with adding new images to the catalog, the other images work fine throughout the site. When I am trying to add new catalog items I get the following errors:

Error: Destination does not exist.

Error Error: Catalog images directory does not exist: /data/sites/<siteurl>/avalon/html/catalog/images/

The Items actually get created but the image is a broken link. I have checked the access rights on the images folder and that is not the issue. Any thoughts on why this isn't working?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here is my configure.php

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://<siteurl>'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://<siteurl>'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', '<siteurl>');
