netlon Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Hello. I have installed (today) oscommerce on my new web host site. I left all the settings to their defaults. However, my domain name is still linked to my current web space which I need to keep running whilst I set up my new site. The web host server has given me a temporary domain name in the format http://1.2.3.4/mycurrentdomainname.co.uk . The default address used when I set up oscommerce does not have the temporary number prefix so when I navigate within oscommerce, each link takes me to my current live site. I have tried to find any reference to changing the domain name but I can't find any. Is it possible to change it or is it easier to uninstall/reinstall the software? Hope my description isn't too confusing. TIA. Regards, Andrew

Back it up first before editing, and you will have to change the permissions on the file before you edit it. /catalog/includes/configure.php This should be what you are looking for. Hope this helps. :) -Tyler -Tyler

netlon Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Thanks very much for the tip Tyler. I've tried it out and all seems well.
netlon Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 I still have a problem related to my original post. I edited the file mentioned by Tyler and I can now move around freely within the administration/ configuration elements, but when I go to my catalogue, all the links lead to my live site and all the images and layout of my catalogue are broken/ looking at my live site for the information. I presume I have to do a similar edit, but which files? TIA
