background image not correct in firefox

Hi guys,

here's my store (no content yet) in IE6 :thumbsup: -->

store-ie.jpg

and in firefox 2.0.0.3 :( -->

store-ff.jpg

Why is this happening? Its shoving it across to the right AND (most importantly) cutting off the background image halfway through). >_< :blink:

Here's the related part of the stylesheet ::

#container {
width:500px;
margin:auto;
text-align:center;
}
#content {
background-image:url(http://www.lazyrecords.co.uk/images/content.gif);
text-align:left;
}

Hmm, I've just noticed that both are preceded by hash marks and when removed, both IE and FF break! I have also seen CSS files with full-stops (periods) preceeding the text, that also causes the text to break.

How should they be? Can you tell I haven't got a clue about CSS?

Thanks for the help!

Adam
