Help! I've lost my admin password (it was automatically assigned by the installer) and now I can't login to my backend!

I do have full access to the server, files & mysql database. I just need to know where to look!

Thanks for your help!

Admin pw is not stored in the database, unless you are referring to osc version 3 (alpha). They may be in a file called .htpasswd at the admin folder depending on your server setup. So deleting it would remove the forgotten pw.

hi gem,

thanks for the quick reply. I found it though - htpasswd file in the admin area - regenerated a username and password & replaced the htpasswd file and it worked. For anyone with the same problem, find the htpasswd file. Download it to your computer and rename it from .htpasswd --> htpasswd.txt. Then replace the text in that file with your encrypted username & pass (do a google search for 'htpasswd file generator') and reupload to server. Now rename back to .htpasswd and you'll be off and running!
