lowt3k
Hello, I want to be able to ADD to a product's quantity when I edit a product. Right now I believe that osC doesn't ADD to the quantity it replaces the quantity with the value I enter when I edit a product from the admin categories.php file. So how would I ADD to a product's quantity instead of replacing the quantity? Can anyone point me in the right direction or tell me how to solve this? My reason for wanting to ADD to a product's quantity is this: Customer Bob wants to buy 1 Product A (The quantity value for Product A is 10 before Bob buys 1) At the same time the admin logs into the "Edit Product" page because he/she wants to ADD 10 more units to Product A Because osC is not Real-Time and doesn't update itself when a change takes place from the catalogue side, the admin doesn't SEE that Bob is buying 1 unit of Product A. Therefore the admin RESETS Product A's quantity to 20 when it should be 19 because Bob bought 1 unit of Product A while the admin was updating. At first this won't cause to much of a problem but later on this could be bad because osC would say that the store has x amount of Product A in stock when physically Product A is Out of Stock. This is also a problem if one person controlled the warehouse and another person controlled the admin side of osC and aren't in constant contact with each other. Wow that was a mouth full. Hmm does it make sense? lowt3k
ocularmagic
I was under the inpression that OSC does run this way if you want it to. You have to change some settings to automatically update your inventory, but you can have it subtract inventory or not. In the admin section, under Configuration, there is a link called "Stock" you can change the settings to subtract stock or not. HTH. If every member of this board donated $1 to the dev team, that would be over $11,000.00. Don't you think this cart is worth at least a $1???? mattice
Once the customer finalizes his order the stock will be updated. (Given you've set it to do so). What you want is damn near impossible simply because you would need to 'reserve' *any* item someone has in his cart REALTIME... and even that will not do it. Some clients buy, some don't... their moneyorder may bounce so you do not deliver their order. I'd ay give it a rest... there always will be holes, stock substracting is about as close as you can get.. and it's already there :) "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
