Someone kind enough to tell me, and perhaps guide me on, how to open an online shop, please?

In short

 

1, Buy a domain name

2, Buy a hosting package that has PHP/MySql installed and allows you at least one database. Preferably, get a Nix/Apache server setup.

3, Download osC from here, unpack it and upload the contents of the "catalog" directory to your webspace.

4, Go to your host's control panel and create a blank database

5, Run www.your_domain.com/install/ from your browser

6, Follow the install instructions using the username/password and db server information supplied by your host, plus the db name you just created.

7, After successful installation, go to your server and delete the "install" directory.

8, Go to your host's control panel again and find the option to password protect directories. Password protect your "admin" directory.

9, Go to www.your_domain.com/admin/configuration and set the store's configuration.

10 - 1,000,000 Read, read, read and make your store how you want it!
