Seperate headers, footers and columns.

Hi,

I would like to be able to call different headers, footers, and columns left and right for each of the categories. I would like the same headers..... that are in that categories to follow through to the products pages that are linked to that cat. If someone can point me in the right direction on this that would be awesome. I know there are the template contributions but they require to much modification and work to get running as my site is heavily modified already.

Thanks any help would be awesome!

Honestly - the only easy way I know is to incorporate STS or equivalent, sorry for a bit of a useless post, you are going to have to come up with some logic that will allow you to use the cPath from OSC - the problem with that is that it is a bit of a convoluted system - because it has to find parent categories and relates itself all together

so in essence you need to write some SQL that will change around the layout - so sorry you have a tough build to modify at this point. It still may be a good idea to check out STS if your solution becomes problematic. Along install, but it solved all my problems.

If I think of anything I'll pass it along!

you could call a program before loading things, and use if statements to call various header files/sections of the header/footer/side files

Thanks for your reply, I have been told that in the past as well so I expected the same response :) Since you seem to know about the STS system does it seem to run into trouble with many contributions and do you know if there are any problems with the search engines using this system? My site has some good rankings for things and I would hate to loose them because of the change?

Thanks for your suggestion, I do not have enough knowledge to create a separate script to do this sort of thing so that would be hard for me to do. Plus again I am worried about the search engines thinking the redirect is a form of tricking people.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Jamie
