Hi there

I'm looking for both some feedback and help here, so please be gentle with me please :'(

My site is www.slotbox.co.uk

To be honest, I'm amazed I've managed to get quite this far, and people here have been very supportive of any questions I've asked.

The site is still very much in its early stages, so please go easy on the criticism. I'm looking for some feedback in terms of whats wrong with the site, and also if there are any major flaws.

I haven't strayed far away from the basic design cos I don't honestly know how to at this stage

But any constructive feedback would be welcome :)

You mention it yourself: your site is the original osC with added products.

I could list losts of things but maybe it's easier if you start reading through the topics in this forum.

The main points are: install a thumbnail contribution, add your physical business address, privacy policy and conditions of use, get rid of the language and currency box if you only have one option, add a header tags contribution to show individual page titles on product pages, adjust the registration page to reflect the UK address format and ask only for information required to fulfill an order, increase the image size on your product pages and work on your product descriptions including layout.

Next you can start changing the colour scheme, add ultimate SEO urls for better search engine rankings etc.

There are lots of things you can change on the admin side to get more information about your visitors etc. To increase sales you need to find out how people navigate on your site, where they come from, if paid ads are effective etc. etc.

You made a good start, now it's time to optimize the site to reach the ultimate goal: make money!

The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product.

Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome.

Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.

In addition to the above, and it is only a small point, why not change www.slotbox.co.uk to SlotBox? This is not the 90's - no need to spell out the fact that its an e-business.

Best Regards,

Searching the templates contributions should give you some ideas of making some changes in the look and feel of your site. Not a fan of the 33ffff color in the page.

I don't care for the right side header images. Some of the buttons contributions have some nicer image buttons for you if you care to look through them.

I agree with everything said here.

Especially " lose the:

About the background color: contrast is a good thing, and your site does have contrast. But it has the wrong kind of contrast. Ideally you want darker side's so that people's eye will gravitate towards the content portion of the site (why most sites use white as a background). But with your site, the light blue background pushes people's eyes to the side menu's which are white. At the very least, I would invert this. Oh.... and I also agree with Lola, I'm not a fan of the light blue color either (or is it victoria green?). Kuler can help you if you wish to make a color change.

Best Regards,

My I suggest that you change the header text, black on black and white is not the easiest thing to read.
