Shipping Help Required

Hi,

 

New to OSC, but impressed. Currently configuring an OSC site for a client, who sells angling equipment and supplies.

 

The particular problem we have is his shipping.

 

The following applies to his case:

 

1. UK Royal Mail Recorded delivery and UK Royal Mail Standard Parcels are used for most items.

 

2. Due, mainly, to size and shape, certain items have to be shipped a) Separately, and b) by Specific Courier

 

3. For the standard products, my client will ship multiple items as a single parcel - dependent upon quantity, weight, etc.

 

4. The client does not want his customers to determine the postal options, i.e they will be determined by product.

 

Point 1 is covered off by the UK Royal Mail Module, while point 2 is covered by Individual Product shipping Module. Point 3, raises the concern of how OSC knows when the parcel needs to split into a multiple parcel (this could be due to size, or weight, or both!). Point 4 can presumably be set in the individual mods.

 

I've been trawling (no pun intended!) the forums, and have a couple of possible solutions that may provide what we need, but may be beyond my PHP abilities to implement correctly.

 

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? Are there many (avoidable) pitfalls in combining mods?
