SEO ABC....

Dear All,

I am beginning to learn about SEO to improve the ranking of my verifresh online store:

Visit My Website: VeriFresh Ltd.

Found many articles and refferences but I was wondering if anyone may objectively recommend priorities, what are the techniques I should start with, wich are essential and which not, etc...

Should I optimize the metatags (the relevance) per each page separately?

Ther is something funny that is displayed in search engine page:

"Innovative dental products. Effective tongue cleaners for fresh breath

Innovative dental products. Effective tongue cleaners for fresh breath Our Products Tongue Cleaners General Info General Info How it works How to use it Your Health and Oral Care The cure for Bad ...

http://www.verifresh.com/tonguecleaner.php"

Now the "Our Products Tongue Cleaners General Info General Info How it works How to use it Your Health and Oral Care The cure for Bad ..." is not part of the metatags but taken fron the "http://www.verifresh.com/tonguecleaner.php" page base on some rule that I could not identify... instead of using the description from my metatags.

Many thanks in advance.

Theodore

You don't seem to have meat tags except the title tag. Try installing Header Tags as that will give you the ability to have different Title tags and Descriptions for each page.

Since your store it new I would recommend moving it to the root directory. You should use 301 permanent redirects when you do that. Google will tell you how to do them.

I would also install Ultimate SEO URL's as that will give you better page urls such as www.verifresh.com/gum-massager-p-32.html.

Adding more text to the pages helps also, your product descriptions are very short and there is no text on your main page.

Also check out these threads, they will help

Remove index.php when browsing back to the main page

http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=155079

Put main body of page before coulumn_left, amend tables to present content first

http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=105994

Add this to your .htaccess file. It will stop your site being displayed with and without the www, everything will go to www.verifresh.com.

rewritecond %{http_host} ^beancoffeeshop.com [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.beancoffeeshop.com/$1 [r=301,nc]

You should also have a sitemap on your site. Also add the http error code contribution and add a site map to that page, so if someone or a search engine hits it they are not stuck with a blank page.

Here are the contributions

It took me a while to find these pages http://www.verifresh.com/gummassager.php. They should be more prominent in your site with clearer links to them. I don't like the way you set it up, could be better integrated.

I would use your information box to make these pages more visible and also make the link on your product pages more prominent. You could also add some pages on dental care as it is a very related subject.

Dear Peter,

I am really grateful for your detailed advice!!!

Seems like a lot of work but worthy to be done.

We are really new here, just opened our store, trying to be visible offer our unique quality products.

Not sure I understood what do you mean by "clearer links" and "better integrated".When you say pages more visible you mean for search engines, is this correct?

When you say "add some pages on dental care" where do you mean I should do that?

I ask that because we already have our dental related base site VeriFresh home site: with detailed information about our products and a health page.

One ptoblem that comes together with better exposure is fighting spam crawlers, e-mail harvesting engines, etc... I found some htaccess redirects scripts here to deflect thouse monsters but not really uptodated. http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum13/687.htm

Also and some ways to hide our emails on the site

What do you think?

Many thanks for your time!

Dear Peter,

I have question, maybe you or any of the contributors may have an idea about that...

On the root of our domain http://www.verifresh.com we have the main site that describes our products with researches in the dental field, oral care, details about the company, etc.

Obviously there is a http://www.verifresh.com/index.php file here with metatags and the rest.

Our store is located in a subfolder of our domain here: http://www.verifresh.com/onlinestore

The store has its own index page: http://www.verifresh.com/onlinestore/index.php with metatags.

Will this situation confuse the search engine robots, indexing etc?

Should we separate the 2 websites on 2 independent domains? Or it should be ok the way it is now?

So far I have improved the relevancy of the index pages for both sites.

I am about to add some of the contributions you recommended.

We have very bad ranking so far, and a lot of non relevant sites are above ours...

Many thanks for any suggestion

Theodore
