i need to ASK before i read for hours looking for an answer to this.

i am still learning how to work all this stuff but i installed OSC all over again and when i installed it i ENABLED SSL even though i do not have SSL on my site yet. I just did that because i didnt want to have to change anything when and if i finally complete this site.

when i add items to my cart and then click checkout it brings me to mywebsite.com/store/checkout_shipping.php and it wont load

does SSL have to be enabled for me to get to the correct checkout process?

i had the SAME issue when i was trying to test a sign up a new account feature. it wouldnt work, so i did a bit of reading and saw a post telling me to set the SSL from TRUE to FALSE in the php file. so i did that and it worked so i was happy that i finally got that to work. i got google checkout to work too but after getting that stuff done i ran into this problem that i didnt notice before.

so i reinstalled all fresh again so i can see if it worked from the start. and it doesnt....but is this because i enabled SSL? and i should go into the checkout.php file and disable SSL somehow? or what do you think ?

however the checkout_shipping.php doesnt have the same true/false option so i need help on what i should do.... :) i have considered reinstalling without enabling SSL but when i finally get my site to work right then it wont be ssl protected i guess.....

i dont know

THANKS ANYONE WHO can help!

It wont work unless SSL is enabled , if you disable it , it will work . Thats what I just had to do. I use paypal hich is secure anyways until I get a SSL

well i didnt disable it, it installed it with SSL enabled. there is no option to disable or enable it once its already isntalled.

yet i do not have SSL from my web host.

thats why i enabled it from the install.

but that shouldnt matter if i could disable it in the php file buy setting it to true or false and getting the link "create new account" to work by disabling the ssl like that

this is what i need to know :) lol

and as far as editing your banner theres an option down at the bottom, for banner manager.

you have to make sure those banners are placed in the right folder once you ad them otherwise it wont work.

i might add your almost better off just right clicking on the main page of your existing website and just finding out what file that banner is named. like what its 01.gif name is and then rename YOUR banner that name and adding it to /images/ file that the picture is located in and delete that template OScommerce gif.

that would be a little easier then trying to edit that php file and risk messing it up.

i was going to play with the banner stuff too but i need to get everything else functional first before i start adding new items to it. that will only be a waste of time when i had to redo it becuase simple crap like the chekout doesnt work, or new accounts cant login or whatever ya know

The place to disable it is in includes/configure.php.
