Categories listed twice

I've been messing about with a template trying to get it to work properly. I didn't realise that it was a fixed width layout when I purchased it. Have had some success in finding the sections to change to 100% width but now I've noticed that the categories are listed twice - one on the left using the template's colour and design, and then again inside the content area listed in the standard osc style. All the links are clickable.

 

I don't know whether this problem has always been there, or just since I started messing.

 

Also, when I go to a category page, the width comes back to the narrow setting of the original template.
