This site has been in development for quite some time and it's heavily modified from the original osCommerce. There is still a few things to fix before it goes fully live but I'm posting it to hopefully get some feedback and things we may have missed. The shop by brand (top right) is a mod we made in house and we also have a shop by brand (manufacturer) extra info page and various other mods. It's running on a multi-store system so we can produce a wholesale site from the same database etc.

Any comments are welcome, good or bad.

Ok I had a quick look.

Design:

Nice layout could be further improved ergonomically. You're using both left/right columns with long lists of products that take up quite some height and looks awkward when viewing the product info pages. The opposite happens when you view the the shop by product page, try to utilize the code for the boxes left/right to display fewer or more products depending on the script.

SEO:

Use meta-tags with your shop-by-...... pages

The urls/links seems to use the default osc search engine urls? You should use a proper SEO urls contribution. The present one doesn't do anything.

Hard-coded links at the top mean a customer who blocks cookies can lose his cart contents. Either force cookies or fix the links to use the osc functions.

use an ssl for your secure pages.

I took a quick look and I did see one thing that I'm sure was not intended. The banner at the top of the page that starts "Think your big" has a misspelled word. The your should be you're which is the contraction for you are. Other than that I think the pages are a bit busy.

Maybe it would look better after a few drinks and some loud music, but first thing in the morning, sorry it gave me a headache!

I can confirm the drinks or time of day doesn't improve the visual experience. It still looks way too busy for my taste.

Just my opinion, doesn't mean I am right.

Good luck with it anyway!

Way to busy in my opinion. Unless you can trace sales to your 'new arrival' category and 'big sellers', I would delete them. Anything you can do to simplify the navigation would help you in my opinion.

This site has so much potential that you are not taking advantage of. The 'goals' section of your website could easily be turned into landing pages. Read this past thread about keyword research and this one about landing pages if you want to learn more. You could really turn this store into a monster if you want.

My only other suggestion is to choose a consistent theme for your buttons. Right now, I see three different types of buttons on your website - an interesting faux pas. Don't neglect to address this point: button design profoundly affects conversion rates.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's been an interesting read so far. I totally agree with the site being too busy but it's out of my hands as I'm developing the site and don't have a say on this - I already highlighted the point to the customer.

I used different buttons to try and highlight some things more than others. I attempted to make the add to cart button stand out more than any other button but you may have got it wrong as it doesn't match up with any of the other buttons on the website.

I'm going to drop the meta tags into the other pages, the sites now in it's final stages of development.
