Use Category Navigation box only

I am fairly new to Oscommerce and am customizing my site. I was wondering how I might go about navigating categories using only the Breadcrumb Navigation Box in the left column. In other words, I would like to stop all the categories/sub categories from displaying when navigating until you get to the product list. Any ideas would be appreciated.. Thanks, Coreyna
