luxor Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 you didnt mention what the exact problem was . i can see the bottom images are different in the 2 browsers , along with a few other cosmetic issues. cosmetic issues are related to css and your html modifications. you will have trial and error the sections that are messed up. see what the coding entails in the section, and then search the internet for browser compatible code remedies. you did nice job with the template by the way, which template contribution are you using?
b101aa2 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Firefox and IE use two different engines for displaying pages. When considering the compatibility, this must be taken into account and very very close attention must followed when creating a layout along with placement of tables and cells. Even font sizes must be chosen by these differences. On a few things, no matter how hard you try, there will be very minor differences. Like if you have a 773 px table width centered and it looks good in Firefox; It still may end up being a whole 1px to the left in IE. Yours though is much much more.
libd84 Posted March 31, 2007 Author Posted March 31, 2007 I uploaded the entire INCLUDES folder from backup before any of the table changes, and it is still messed. What other areas can have been modified? In the english.php?
libd84 Posted March 31, 2007 Author Posted March 31, 2007 Actually if you look at the site, the only thing that is way off is that right column. That huge white space, the width must have been stretched. But like I said, I updated my includes folder. Where else could that be affected by?
usernamenone Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 You need to apply a div to the entire page starting with the header and ending with the footer. Look over under my name at my contributions and you will find a center fix that needs to be applied to your entire site. To do this you will need to make sure that the 100% original tables are intact before the fix. anyone?
libd84 Posted March 31, 2007 Author Posted March 31, 2007 I see, thanks. Well I need to fix my table widths. Do you see that white space (far right side) thats moving everything? Do you know what controls that?
libd84 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 Is it possible this template doesnt work with IE7? I just uploaded my old backups and it still gives me this cosmetic error
Darky10 Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Any idea? My site Dude your admin is unprotected. I was in your admin, looking at customers, clicked on orders and got a tep error message. Its not ready for business yet. if you can't secure the url or do an ht.access, then turn the permissions right down on your server through ftp, or through hosting panel. Its a slow loader. Bit narrow, some nice effects. IE7 is a bag of shi** it reads websites like in machine code. But have to cater for those 74% who will use a variety of micro explorer. Its that crap they have to bundle it free with the os. Im sticking with XP Vista is risky.
Guest Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I'm having similar problem with displaying my page www.virc-sp.si in Internet Explorer. On Firefox works perfectly. Does anyone know where could be the problem ?
Guest Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Why doesnt my site display properly in Internet Explorer?, Works perfectly in FireFox Having html errors is one reason. So first get rid of them before checking browsers.
Guest Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I have the same problem with my site. On every page, the left column completely disappears in IE, and on the product pages the right column drops to the bottom of the page - it's a mess! I didn't think I'd changed that much from the oscommerce template! I tried making margin: auto instead of the 0px that it had, and that had zero effect. What else might I have screwed up? It didn't even occur to me until this week that it might look different in IE than my Firefox, so I hadn't ever looked at it in IE! This may partly explain why though I've had a ton of traffic through my site, no one seems to stay! Very discouraged over here - hope someone has some ideas that a web-design infant can understand :( jennifer
