Editing SQL

Hiya. I recently downloaded a contribution and one of the steps is this

 

SQL

---------------------------------------------------

ALTER TABLE `categories_description` ADD `categories_description` text NOT NULL ;

 

No where does it explain how to do this. Can someone help me figure it out?

I am in the SQL files and I see the one called `categories_description` I click it and I have no idea what to do next to set the text to NOT NULL
