Hi,

You can view my site by clicking HERE.

Incase you are wondering the businness name is a Czech word that means "Outside, Outdoors, In the fresh air, etc". I dont know how I came accross it, but as I will be selling outdoor clothing and equipment it seemed like a suitable unique name!

The site is still under construction, but apart from uploading the products and setting up the SSL (last thing i'll do as dont want to waste it) I am nearly done!

The site is running on the Cre-Loaded version of Oscommerce and I will be honest and tell you that I used a template! However I have really only used it as a guideline to save time and and I have customised it quite alot to look and feel the way I want! I changed layouts, colours and added my own graphics etc, so it really has changed it into a custom looking site.

Please have a look at the site and let me know your opinions! I am after constructive feedback even if its bad.

Thanks to all that view and comment!

Regards

Ross

Nice overall impression but...

some of the contrasts (font-colours/background), text on graphics etc. are very low, making it very difficult to read. In addition to that you chose a font-size which is way too small. Try to increase to at least 12px. Same goes for the tiny font on your buttons. If you are in the UK, you need to make your website accessible for all visitors including those with disabilities. With the colours and fonts you got right now it's a painful, eyewatering experience.

Nice FAQ section. Maybe change your location to Northern Ireland?

Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome.

Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.

Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad your overall impression was good! Your constructive feedback is appreciated, and you have raised points that when I have time I will look at. But they aren’t my priority at the present time.

I think your suggestion of increasing the font size to 12pt is a little too much. In my opinion Large text can tend to look clumsy, and if it is hard for somebody to read, i.e., due to a disability, they could always zoom in a bit on the page as most browsers can do this! What other colour would you suggest the text could be on some of the informational pages if you don’t think its right at its current state? I did graphic design at University, and typography featured quite a lot within it. I’ve stuck to what I’ve learnt. When I had the opportunity, I did have a look at your site. I don’t mean it in a bad way or offensive way, but while browsing it I found it difficult to navigate around as things seemed scattered about the page... It just didn’t have that professional feel about it, which would encourage me to buy. Also the main centre part of the site was not aligned properly with the header and footer parts and the corners of the buttons on the top menu were pixilated.

As I have a design background, maybe im just being too damm fussy! lol...

Good luck,

Ross ;-)

I have no intention to hijack your thread but as you already brought it up, I'll comment on your feedback. I'm not really sure what you meant with the header/footer/main part not aligning. There was a little bug in IE for some pages like index.php which I fixed where the borders where repeated and the whole page out of sync. Other than that I can only find a 1 px offset of the header/fooder darkgreen boxes compared to the main box. I agree about the pixelated corners and I would love to fix this. I don't have any design background and I'm no expert in using graphics software.

In regards to the contrast issue with the fonts/background. There is a nice site where you can check this: http://juicystudio.com/services/luminosity....php#luminosity

I'm usually not tempted to change the text size in my browser but with your site I felt it necessary. I know disabled people certainly know where to find this feature in their browser, the normal visitor might not be used to do this and they are your target customers. In the departments box the red dot is more irritating than the grey dot in the box below. I have reading problems with the words "Buying guides" and "Take our advice" on the background graphic. The font here and on the buttons is hard to read as the letters are not distinct and in the case of the buttons even seem to flow into each other. I hope you know what I mean. In both cases increasing the font-size would solve the problem.

Overall the neon red is too bright. I recommend leaving the page open on your browser for a long time and keep looking at it. If you can stand the colours and the contrasts, it's fine. Otherwise you need to change something. You get it, I wouldn't stay on your site to buy as I don't feel comfortable. By the way, the popup guides don't open properly in firefox and again, the text is too small to read for that amount of information.

Only trying to help,

abra

just to let you know that when processing an order (buying a product), you have:

"fatal error: Call to undefined function: tep_draw_checkbox_field() in /home/electra/public_html/templates/Matrix-186/content/shopping_cart.tpl.php on line 155"

just thought i would mention it
