Problem with Featured Products Loading

Not sure if anyone else out there is having this problem...

 

For no (apparent) reason, our web will only load the top section and the left side of the site (main page). The center of the main page is where the (9) featured products are displayed. It can take as long as 3 minutes for the images to populate, and at times it won' load at all and time out.

 

Our web host has been exceptional as far as trying to assist us with the problem.; however they too are stumped.

 

From what they (the host) are seeing, in order to get the page to load normally they need to restart apache on the server.

According to them, something in the osCommerce script is losing it's connection.

 

If anyone has any idea what is going on...or (most importantly) how to fix it... please let me know.
