lilqhgal Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I've spent the past 2 hours reading over at the KB and looking thru forums and messing w/ my admin, and I still can't figure out this simple tax. I want to set up tax for ONE STATE in the United States ONLY. The shop is located in one state and I would like to set up the tax to be added to the checkout process in the totals. I can't seem to accomplish this. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
lilqhgal Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 So I found somewhere in each product that I could setup a tax line item, but I don't want to do it per item, I have literally 1000's of products. Plus, it goes in an adds the tax directly to the price, regardless of where the shopper is coming from... I Just want the tax added if the shopper is shopping from the SAME state.
vasttech Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 1. Under configuration/my store at the bottom set "Display Prices with Tax" to false. 2. Create a tax zone for your particular state and set the tax rate. - Click on Locations/Taxes - Select Tax Zones - Create a new tax zone - Enter your country/state - Goto Tax rates and set that tax zone up with a tax rate (i.e. 7.0% or whatever). 3. For each product you must set it to "Taxable" as this tells osCommerce to charge tax for it. It will show two prices there now (one with tax one without) that is ok. Your done! Assuming you have done the above, your customers will be charged tax if they live in your state otherwise they won't. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
