Shyone44
I am trying to upload a backup form of my site. I took my site offline last year, and now I am ready to put it back up. I had backed it up right before I went offline. I went to the cpanelX file manager area, then to public_html. That is where I uploaded the file. I can click on the backup and see the file, but I just can't get the images online. Oscommerce is the cart that I had been using before. So what do I need to do next? Thanks for any help. I really am confused............
usernamenone
Put the installer back in your catalog. If you don't have one you should download one. Then open your browser to yoursite/where you catalog is/ install. Answer all the questions. You do have a database set up, right? Once the installer has finished and you log into admin look in configuration and down to tools. You will then find the database backup button. That is where you will do a restore. usernamenone
You should be using normal log in, Site details now www infront of your site, Port 21, server type is ftp, You should be using normal log in, the user name and the password, there is not an account. If that does not work log into your hosted site control panel and or find the faq on ftp and see what your ftp user name and password is. also the path to ftp to. Most use your log in info but some use a different on. I have a client who set up and hosting account where it is all different including the http location. I am working on setting up FileZilla. I was able to set up new site info, but when I put my user name is isn't allowing me to add my password. So whn I'm trying to connect, it keeps saying "unable to connect". Any help is APPRECIATED!!! Shyone44
I tried the quick log on and that worked with my user name & password. I was able to upload my backed up info to the public_html folder. So now I am a little lost. I thought I would be able to type my site info in, but I am still getting my host parked site. I must be missing something, just not sure what yet..... Also, when I had backed up my site the last time, I have a file that says "links.gz" & "shopx.gz" Am I supposed to upload those also? I'm sorry if these questions seem silly to you, but I am really trying to learn how to work with this cart. Thanks Again!

Shyone44
I'm hosted with Host Gator. I had the site designed for me in 05 and the girl who did it is no longer around, so I am not sure what the GZ files are either. Ok another silly question.... Name of my catalog? Is that what I named it in FileZilla?
usernamenone
Put both of the .gz files in admin backups folder. Name of the catalog is the name of the folder your catalog is in. usernamenone
You need to upload the install folder from the catalog that you downloaded to the catalog on the hosted server. YOu then need to run the installer by typing in www.yoursite.com/yourcatalog/install. Once the installer is finished you will then log into admin and run a restore.......... To do this you will need to place the backups into a folder in admin named backups, if the folder is not there you need to create a blank folder on your desk top named backups and ftp it into your admin folder. Once the install is finished make sure you delete the install folder and change permissions on the 2 configure.php folders. I have downlaoded the oscommerce file to my computer, I have also ftp my back up to public_html. But I am not sure about how the catalog plays into this. I can see the install file in oscommerce, but I don't understand how to get my info into the oscommerce file I downloaded. Thank You again for all your help!!! Shyone44
I keep getting this message at the top of my screen "Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/abcdefg/public_html/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file." When I go into /home/abcdefg/public_html/catalog/includes/configure.php and I set the value at 644, the warning still comes up. So I followed this http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/I...nd_Upgrades/224 and input 444, but it keep reverting back to 644. Can someone please help me....
