hey guys,

im working on a clients website. ive used the auto-install function in fantastico to install oscommerce. the site works fine. the admin section, on the other hand is useless.

Im unable to delete categories, if i create a category, it adds it, but doesnt name it what i called it, the name appears blank. just the whole admin section is buggered. ive checked the admin section is CHMOD to 755, the same is also true for the images directory.

I really really really need to get this site finished but while the admin aint working, im buggered. please please help guys??

the url of the site is http://www.premiumturbos.com/shop/ - please help me??? :'( :'( :'(

Use your control panel and at least add password protect to admin directory, I just checked your store and gained access to the admin without any password request.

What was the last modification you made before noticing the admin was not functioning correctly? And did you back up before making any mods?

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

Hi mate,

yes i realise there is no password there at present. this is at the request of the customer despite my warnings to them.

The admin section didnt seem to work right from the time it was installed, before i had made any modifications atall to it. i did back those files up before i started making modifications though!

Unless you have them sign a waive that you will not be held liable in the case of store hacking, etc, you are going to be in deep doo doo. Their insistence on leaving this wide open compromises their customers' data and leaves you hanging in the wind as a scapegoat for problems.

Stand up and do the right thing for your sake. Rename the admin access folder to something else and password protect it as a matter of policy. Non-negotiable.

It's all just ones and zeros....

I would do a clean install. What you may want to try first is backing up the website to your local dev box and seeing if it works there!
