Integrate News into Site

It would be nice to see OSC develop into a mini CMS system in itself. A news system would merely be a part of it.

You can use most any news system already out there. Just install it and include the proper code in your OSC default.php (I think). Better make sure that someone else verifies that is the right file though.

I have done this using NewsPro on a site, and it has worked quite well. However, like I say it would be nice to see this function built in as just PART of a mini CMS system.

If you can add products without knowing php/html it only makes sense to be able to update site content the same way too. This is what makes OSC an attractive catalog system.

I am working on developing the osc into a cms, not as well put together as post nuke....but functional....

my site is completely osc based.....except for some java scripts....

I am still working on it....and when I have the WYSIWYG editor set up in the admin, i will release a contribution for it....

At least that is a minimum - I for one will be using Xaraya (the new Postnuke) as soon as it is released as stable... and would very much like to be able to integrate osCommerce into the system... but in truth all I don't like about having them side by side at the moment is the requirement for users to log in twice.

Obviously it would be nice to have the theme etc carry over as well - as that is a *major* improvement/feature of the Xaraya CMS system. I have not looked at the theme system for osCommerce in detail - is anyone else looking at combining the two?

Basically I love the backend of the osCommerce system, the front-end and modularity of the Xaraya/Postnuke system and feel that they should just share users... any thoughts?

. I have not looked at the theme system for osCommerce

Don't look. There isn't any.

Just stylesheets and header / footer file.

There are some plans though in the future.
