Hi All,

i'd appreciate if any of you could constructly crticise this website i have developed. Its my first attempt with oscommerce and ecommerce and have never done any web development in my entire life. I know it looks pretty standard, but i quite liked the standard look. I've added a few key seo modules like header tags (still needs updating with custom keywords), seo urls, etc etc. I've got osc affiliates working, along with ultrapics, paypal osc, bacs transfer, custom shopping cart.

I am still in the process off adding images hence there are very few images on the website. I just upgraded my bandwidth.

In 2 weeks i've i've spent £100 on adwords and have had a healthy return of around £250. However looking at awstats, i've had over 2000 unique customers, but only had 22 orders. 74% of users also leave in the first 30 seconds to 2 minutes. To me this doesn't sound right, so there must be something fundamentally wrong with my website. However, this does show potential.

I look forward to feedback.

website is www.electronicmanuals.co.uk

Kind Regards

Personally.. i think there is a bit too much reading on page 1..

Sales need to be quick, sharp and snappy.. maybe keep that information.. but put it as a seperate page and add that as a More Info in the list with the contact us, shipping etc box.. in place of the text you have now... make a small page which displays maybe 4 of your key products, because essentially, thats your "shop window" and really.. online buyers are lazy people, else they'd take a trip to Halfords for their haynes manual  so they want things spoon fed really.. rather than having to hunt for stuff

content is good for google, but i personally find it a little offputting for buying..

maybe also take a look at your header picture, again, this is just my opinion, but i'm not really into collage type pictures in headers unless they use the companies logo.. the skyline picture i have on my PC, found it on google.. maybe use a digi camera and have a photo of a few manuals fanned out or something.. just anything thats not "borrowed"

At top i'd keep

Welcome to www.electronicmanuals.co.uk. We specialise in supplying high quality workshop service and repair manuals, electronic parts catalogues, owners manuals and diagnostic software for all cars and motorbikes.

and put a link at end saying, "For More information on our services click here"

then have 4 products, do some MR into the 4 most popular cars you have maunals for, and use them as your "shop window"

hope thats ok

Runs rather as expected (good thing!). You do need a proofer. There's a world of difference between "then" and "than", may be and maybe. I could go on... for a fee :)

Congratulations on your first store. It looks hald decent but to be honest it is very stock looking.

I see the bestseller and product info images contributions as well as other things that you have implemented but the stock look is predominant throughout the store.

It's a nice looking header and logo - but the cart in header needs jazzing up because it is too basic. The footer needs work because it is dead - maybe a banner or product/info page links would liven it up a bit?

If you feel adventurous my real tip to you is to remove the column right because it opens up the product info pages which in turn means your product descriptions can be more detaioled with slightly larger font size and your multiple images can be displayed in a more satisfactory manner. Just a thought.

Good luck

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

Hiya Chooch...

you an amitabh fan? I watched Ek Ajnabee the other day...how good does he play the "Denzel Role" hey? Perfect man for the job.

Thanks for the input.

I don't think i've installed the product info images contribution. The only image contrib i've installed is ultrapics.

I will look into removing the right column.

Any tips on how i can jazz up the shopping cart in the header? And how can i spice up the footer?

Thanks

It's a nice store. I have just two suggestions/observations:

1. When I changed the currency, if I went to a different page, the currency setting changed back to the original.

2. The site info only took up 2/3 of my screen. There was 1/3 that was just background. It made the site seem a little squished.
