I try to learn and make all of my changes to both my forum and store by myself. I have downloaded your abstract zones module and would like to add it to my site. You state to run the SQL file in phpmyadmin, however, i am not very proficient with using it. Can I simply upload the file to my server and run the link in a browser to update my database as is often done with other php applications?

You need to learn how to use phpmyadmin. I am sure I've seen a dedicated thread for it, maybe in the tips and tricks. You can also check the phpmyadmin.net site where you can find the full documentation.

For my part the reason there is no file that automatically sets the database is for security concerns. Because new osc users may easily forget to remove it after installation.
