Guest Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 hello again, another prob! i enabled credit card in the payment module, entered my email address and set it to true etc, i tried to purchase an iten using my b/f card, (it was a visa electron) but the payment didn't go out of his account. should the payment have gone into my paypal account? i am obviously doing something wrong here! i just cant see what! i would appreciate any help or ideas. thanks again
vasttech Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 if you are just using the standard credit card module in the admin then it does not actually process any transactions. It just takes stores the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits of the card in the order and e-mails you the middle the 8 numbers. In order to actually process transactions you need to signup for and enable a credit card gateway such as authorize.net or you can just use paypal if your store isn't that big and you don't process a whole lot of orders. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
Guest Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Which credit card module are you using? The default CC module does not actually credit the account, it simple receives the credit card information (four digits of the CC number should be sent to the email address you provided with the rest stored in the admin section of the site for security) thus enabling the store owner to process the card through any means they have available. Eg. In store credit card terminal or online payment gateway. If you are wanting to use PayPal then there are a number of Contributions that will help you intergrate it into your store including the default module that comes with osCommerce (although i have not used this module myself and cannot comment on it's effectiveness). Hope this helps. Regards, *Ringo*
Guest Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 thanks very much for a speedy reply :) it all sounds very complicated! i will take it off for now and just use paypal, as the customer can still pay by credit/debit card on the paypal login page even if they dont have an account, cant they? thank once again
jasonabc Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 the customer can still pay by credit/debit card on the paypal login page even if they dont have an account, cant they? Correct. Avoid the credit card capture module at all costs. Storing credit card numbers (especially the way this module does it i.e. in unencrypted plain text) is 1) highly risky and 2) against PCI regulations.
