sheltonjb Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Will osCommerce be able to handle hundreds of thousands of customers, orders, products, etc etc when will it end? surely there's going to be a point when it can't handle anymore? also, a dummie question again: what is the database size? does it use the same as your webspace? e.g. mine is 750MB, so does that mean my database will use that aswell? thanks Shelton Shelton Brown Web/Graphic Designer
Guest Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I am successfully running a store with over 5000 items on without any trouble whatsoever and i'm sure I seen larger. The size limit is somewhat dependant on your hosting; while 750mb is more than enough web space for a very large store, site traffic will be limited by your bandwidth allowance aswell. Upgrading to a dedicated server will solve most usage problems with pretty much unlimited potential. My store's database is around 6mb currently which should not provide any significant problem to most hosting companies. This is separate from your website space, your host should be able to give you an idea on any limits your account has (look for MySQL database maximum size) but in the vast majority of cases I cannot see this being a problem.
