Guest Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Hi, I have had the script installed by a professional tech, he tried twice, then he relized that in the admin section of the site in the bottom left hand corner it actually says "You are protected by a unknown secure SSL connection.". And it's screwing up the configuation, none of the images are showing up and the CSS is all whacked out. The site is www.weebys.com . Any ideas, were thinking it may be a sever problem, he says he's never came across a problem like this, and this guy knows his sh*t. Any comments would be greatly appreciated, I have already contacted my hosting company, but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem. Thanks!
Guest Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Before you put a lot of work into your site, you may just want to password protect your admin ;) ! That way some evil @!&%({@ doesn't get in there and screw it all up.

Hi, Yea I was going to protect it, but I didn't even get the site installed correctly first, then I would protect it, but I guess its a good idea to do now while we figure out whats going on with that unknown SSL certificate. Any suggestions on how to unlock it? Thanks for the advice though.
itinerant baker Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 The way I understand it, as long as it says secure you should be ok, the unknown bit is probably due to you being on a shared secure certificate (that came with your hosting I would guess, rather than you buying it separately.) If this is the case and you are happy that the company who certificate it are kosher then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Of course, if I'm talking complete nonsense someone feel free to call me a numpty though! That site seems to be OK when I just looked at it, it's the standard osc layout as it comes out of the box - not the prettiest thing in the world but it works. Images seem to work ok. If you're still getting problems that you think are down to ssl then check that you've got includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php set up properly, a quick google of this site will bring up the relevant info.

Hi, Thanks for the advice, but Im not sure what site your looking at but none of the images are showing up on mine, www.weebys.com, and the CSS is all whacked out. I thought it might just a AOL browser problem I was having viewing the site, but I check it out with a few different browser's and the site is just a mess, I reinstalled it 3 times from fresh, and changed out the usernames for the database's. The images look like there not being hosting correctly, nothing is appearing but outlined boxes where the images should be. One of my techs wrote this back to me: ----------------------- It keeps trying to do https If you look in the admin http://www.weebys.com/admin/ at the bottom left it tells you it's a secure connection when it's not. You are protected by a unknown secure SSL connection http://xlimited.com/oscom/admin it should show the unlock and not lock like on your site. I have never seen this before. This is the standard oscommerce site. I can not fix this on your server. --------------------- So im still waiting on a response from my hosting provider, there blaming it on the script itself, but I have a totally different server I used to test out the installation and everything worked out fine. I had a new account I created last week I used, with different servers, the domain isn't really appropiate, I used to just test the script and it came up perfect, the way it should look, www.weebys.com should look like www.basictomatosauce.com , I used that domain to test the installation process, so the only thing we could figure out is that Unknown SSL connection is screwing up the script and seems to be drawing everything to a HTTPS:// instead of a regular HTTP connection. Just don't know, im lost on this one, any other suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks baker!
itinerant baker Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Again, I've just looked at http://www.weebys.com/ and it looks fine to me. I'm using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.1 on XP. You're not using imagemagik for osc are you? I know some people have had issues with that and ssl doing strange things to the image paths. Also it might be worth checking you don't need to change the admin/includes/configure.php value following "define('HTTP_SERVER', ' " from the http address to the secure https address - I think it's meant to be the http one but I couldn't get my admin to go to the secure server at all without bodging it in that way, and others have had this problem aswell. Of course your mileage may vary but it could be worth looking into. As far as being secure, I wouldn't be to worried as long as the padlock and yellow url bar (or however your browser announces secure sites) are showing as they should. (Again, anyone else is free to jump down my throat if I'm getting this very wrong!) Are these showing? Oh, and ditch AOL browser if you can, it's pooh.

I'm confused as to what the problem is and where the site is located. If I go to http://weebys.com/, everything appears to load fine. If I go to https://weebys.com/, it doesn't load, which means the certificate is not installed. If I do the same with http://xlimited.com/oscom/, I get the same results. So I'm not sure which site is the one you are having problems with but neither have a certificate installed. If you are still having problems, can you provide a way to show the error?
