I'm sorry but for some reason you made your shop link here, not an actual link ?

As you said, it is a work in progress and not ready for a review.

I can only point out the obvious things which I'm sure you know as well, so I'm not gonna

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

What a very interesting layout. Few things, I would change the blue arrows and the blue Latest additions text. I just don’t see that light/dark blue going along with the color scheme of the site. Also, I would change the title text to white. It is currently very hard to read the gray text over black. When I click on the product details I noticed that the buttons are also in light blue and the edges are highly pixilated. Consider fixing all buttons. Finally try removing some of the info boxes to the left and right. For example, the Paypal, credit card logos can be moved to the footer and the contact us at: [email protected] can be removed completely as there is a contact us link in the information infobox.

Wow! What a unique design, I am still thinking about it. It is bold and enriching.

I think I am going to need time to digest this before I can offer any comments. I appreciate though the work you have done.

Interesting and different design. I like it but, I would have tried with a neutral outside colour and stripes inside or vice versa. Maybe you already have. I get a wallpaper vibe looking at it, with the stripes across the page. Love the silhouettes/sketches though, they work.

Hi denzel2364. I agree with Andrew's comments regarding the grey text on black bg for your infoboxes. To change these, go into your stylesheet and change the color for TD.infoBoxHeading.

I like the look of your site, but would recommend that you use black text on a white bg for the main body of your pages to make it easier to read. Definitely keep the stripes for the background outside of the main body.

For SEO, consider adding a unique meta tag contrib (I use Header Tags Controller). And also create unique title tags for each of your pages. I just posted something on this here, if you'd like to take a look.

When I first checked out your site, I thought you were selling the actual stencil designs. Your stencils look really good. If there's a demand, you should look at selling those as well...

I think diffusing the background of the pages, to make it more easy to read, might not be such a bad idea. I think you could also boost your conversion rate with a stronger call to action. The 'add to cart' button you have doesn't stand out enough right now, and too often is below the fold.

Also, when someone does click 'add to cart', there is no call to action that inspires someone to start the checkout process. Right now, you are depending on people to click on the 'checkout' hyperlink on the top right of the site. You need an easier way to checkout - I recommend taking people to the 'view cart contents' page upon clicking 'add to cart' because you have a 'checkout' button on that page.

'view cart contents' page upon clicking 'add to cart'

that is a must. I always go straight to contents.

<span style='font-family:Courier'>If you can't fix it Perl it!!!...</span>

*Cheers people, that sound like a good idea. How do i change the link so it goes to 'cart contents' instead of back to product listing?

** also, the product listing 'Classic Darth Vader Head Mask - Stencil (A5)

[darth.0.1.A5]' appears in a blue. Ive checked thru css but nothing stands out! Whats the value for this text colour?

***Great idea bout the stencils. I shall produce a few to sell seperately and add them to the list

I'm not sure how this would be done personally. I believe the default osc action is to go to the cart contents page after adding a product. This is the code that I have for the Add to Cart button:

<?php echo tep_draw_form('cart_quantity', tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCT_INFO, tep_get_all_get_params(array('action')) . 'action=add_product')); ?>

<p>Quantity to add: <input type="text" name="quantity" value="1" maxlength="2" size="2"></p>

<?php echo tep_draw_hidden_field('products_id', $product_info['products_id']) . tep_image_submit('button_in_cart.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_IN_CART); ?>

I don' know if that would help, but my guess is that you've modified the action in some way. If all else fails, set up a local stock osc installation, and compare your code. Looking at the code now, I can't see where the page to go to afterwards is specified though... But I'm no PHP wiz. :)

BTW, I added the second line in the code for people to choose multiple quantities, so that won't apply to your install.

[darth.0.1.A5]' appears in a blue. Ive checked thru css but nothing stands out! Whats the value for this text colour?

I took a look at your stylesheet. Open it up and search for "color: #002643;", under TD.pageHeading.

The easiest way to find this stuff is to view the source of the rendered page in your browser and search for the affected element (in this case, the text "Classic Darth Vader..."). Then find the CSS class that controls it.

Hi people,

just deciding whether i have gone OTT on the background! the problem i has was that the stencils would look rubbish just sat on white. Theerfore, eventually they are going to be stencilled on brown paper as part of the product. I reflected the aim by incorporating the backgroun with tables and boxes etc.

Basically i just need an opinion Whether to change it or not. What could i do in replacement? Shall i create a new site template even though the business is in very early days?!

Dean,

I like your website a lot. It is really unique, really artistic, and different all together. I don't know much about your business, but if your site reflects the mood of your target market and overall industry - then perhaps your design is ingenious. But this is just my opinnion.

I highly recommend to you that you look at the suggestions in this thread, especially about the checkout and the buttons. Spend time fixing those usability problems - then devote your time to marketing ( PM me if you want me to recommend some marketing resources for you to research ).

Fixing these usability problems and honing your marketing are your best opportunity to increase sales. If you can get this area of your business working efficiently - no amount of redesigning (aesthetically speaking) could come close to benefiting you as much. I mean, the first option can increase your sales exponentially; the second can only provide a linear increase in sales.

Victor

PS: are you going to change the field background colors in your checkout to an off white color?

Bingo! i have done it. the option was located in the admin panel

The new site does look nicer are you designing all this stuff yourself?

I haven't looked for more than a few moments, but if it were my site, I would remove the 'info' buttons on your category pages in favor of underlined blue hyperlinks. A primary vs. secondary call to action if you want to be technical.
